This is how you install the latest GIMP(2.9.5, Jan 2017)

  • sudo add-apt-repository ppa:otto-kesselgulasch/gimp-edge
  • sudo apt-get update
  • sudo apt-get install gimp

 

To uninstall the latest GIMP

  • sudo apt-get install ppa-purge
  • sudo ppa-purge ppa:<PPA>

(instead of <PPA> otto-kesselgulasch/gimp-edge or otto-kesselgulasch/gimp)

Making a 360 video:

 

1. Render your animation/video with a equirectancular camera

2. Download spatial-media-master

3. Unzip spatial-media-master

(i.e./home/YOUR_USERNAME/Videos/spatial-media-master)

 

4. Make a new folder in Videos, name it 360video,

put your animation/video file in there.

/home/YOUR_USERNAME/Videos/360video/your_file_name.mp4

 

5.open a terminal

change directory to your unzipped spatial-media-master

(i.e./home/YOUR_USERNAME/Videos/spatial-media-master)

cd /home/YOUR_USERNAME/Videos/spatial-media-master

 

6.execute spatial media master, you need python 3 for this, on a Linux system it is preinstalled.)

python spatialmedia -i /home/YOUR_USERNAME/Videos/360video/your_file_name.mp4 /home/YOUR_USERNAME/Videos/360video/your_NEW_file_name.mp4

Note: the file name and the new file name has to be different.Done.
